Orangeblossom Tigerlily "Dimple" Boffin of Whitfurrows
Celebriän Tári "Nienna" Mithrandír
(borrowed Yoda's idea. don't mind, do you?)
Oh, that's nice. I'm weirder than anyone as a hobbit, but I'm a famous elf ancestor and gandalf as an elf.
anyone got Olorin? If you did, he's definately using wizard names for elves. I like the elf one based on meanings better. the author takes the meaning of the name and finds that in elvish (quenya or sindarin).
In that, I'm Eruanna Meldë or Eruannë Meleth, with my last name unknown, since I can only translate it in Quenya, and would like to post both.
heh. I found orlando, and it's Laurenor or Dórmallen, quenya and sindarin respectively.

Hmmm... I like my Hobbit name:
Lila Smallburrows of Sandydown.
Pretty cool.
Elvish:
Tari Oronra (accents over "i" and "a")
Now, let me try with "Julephenia"
Elvish:
Nessa Oronra
Hobbitish:
Ruby Smallburrows.
Strangely enough, Rebecca works better for me...
Becky, likes her elf name..

You know, it's funny. Looking back at my "hobbit name"... I don't think Orangeblossom Tigerlily is very Hobbitish. Do they HAVE tigerlilies in the Shire?

Dimple Brandybuck of Buckland i s my hobbit-y name
Nienna of Dorthonion is my elf-y name.
Dorthonion isn't a place! Here's another site that tells you your Orc name and dwarf name as well
http://www.barrowdowns.com/middleearthname.asp?Size=
My name there is Ascafen for an elf. Much better then Nienna!

I like my elf name best, but I am baised.
Elf: Nienna Sîrfalas
Hobbit: Dimple Bumbleroot of Haysend
Say Arwena, your first name woulden't happen to be Lee, would it? Because we both got Dimple and Nienna for our first name.
nome
Jan 21 2003, 05:32 PM
To Arwena and Chibi: Lee and Nome both came up as Dimple and Nienna, what was Arwena's entry? maybe it has to do with the first letter and the number of letters/syllables

If you had a read further on in the website it told you how the names were generated, and it depended on letters as Nome theorised, that's why a few places are so random. But hey, random = fun = key word of Exeter University (according to a paper)
Yoda, who coincidentally enough attends a certain university...

Yoda - off of that site is where you get your names.
I thought I pressed "reply" but I pressed "new" instead.
Silly me! Been doing that a lot lately!

Dwarf: Valin Songeye
Orc: Ufsnak the Testy
According to the Red Book of Westmarch,
In Middle-earth, Stephanie Suzanne ******* was a
Mischievious Haradrim
Doing these name generators does give me new appreciation for my name (which I've always thought was dreadfully boring). I really don't think I'd want to be Ufsnak the Testy.

Using my proper name I was given to be a 'Regretful Barrow-Wight' (I didn't mean to eat hobbits - really!) but here are some of the names:
Dwarf: Trór Snowmallet
Orc: Ghazghash the Bloody-handed
Now that's just cool
Of course I had to try the same using Yoda as a middle name:
Dwarf: Nerin Snowbrow
Orc: Ugukh the Bloody-handed
I think I prefer my other orc and dwarf names more, I mean Trór and Ghazghash, they sound like travelling friends (or rather, they would be if they weren't so busy trying to kill each other)

By the way, my name isn't Lee, (or nome

Hee hee hee -- I hadn't seen this thread before. Just did both sites. I like my names better on the first one -
Hobbit: Daisy Brambleburr of Bindbale Wood
Elvish: Idril Silimaurë
According to the Red Book of Westmarch,
In Middle-earth, I was a Cowardly Ainur
Their version of Elvish is Amanquesse, which is quite pretty, though I think I like Idril better. Also, their Hobbit was Myrtle Whitfoot from Pincup (so, I'm Moaning Myrtle now???)
Dwarven: Grór Marbleguard
And . . . drumroll please . . . my Orkis name is:
Grimhûr the Ripper That was fun!

Hobbit: Pearl Knotwise of Michel Delving
Elvish: Enelya Ancalimë
According to the
Red Book of Westmarch, I should be: Revered Variag
Dwarven: Frerin Maneye
I didn't bother with the Orkish name b/c seriously, who wants to be an orc!
