Whoops! Have been quite lax. Here we go:

What word is this riddle describing?

Pronounced differently but spelled the same
I have many meanings from obscure to mundane
In a trip across water I get there before you
In precipitation amazing, a marvel to awe you
One naming of me means to acknowledge the praise
I move fastest in music as the violin maestro plays
Taught to children of all ages , or trip up they would
I was also much favoured by a notorious Hood.

A man was locked in a room with only a bed, a calendar, and a piano. How did he drink, how did he eat, and how did he get out?

He ate the dates off the calendar, took a drink from the spring in the bed and used a key from the piano to unlock the room biggrin.gif

Now, here's a slight metaphysicallly philosophical one:

'If I am what I am, then what am I not?'

yoda, confused1.gif

PS: you can answer this with two words

“Hey Harry!” said Cedric, strolling up to him. “Did you hear those screams? I almost died!... Is that David Bowie?”
“Never mind that, look!” the American exchange student exclaimed. “I found the Triwizard cup! It’s mine! All mine! I’ll finally get the fame and glory and honor I deserve!”
“Stupefy,” said Harry. The American exchange student dropped to the ground, stunned.
“Woah!” Cedric exclaimed in astonishment. “You can do magic?!”
“Come on, Cedric,” Harry sighed. “We’d better take this together. You know, so Draco Malfoy won’t think I’m selfish. I really want to get with him, you know.”

Well, in a heated discussion at the pub tonight we decided that could be an answer to the riddle (mine was 'someone else' - but 'not me' covers the same ground)

Your turn Jerry biggrin.gif

Here's an interesting one:

Always invisible, yet never out of sight.

What is it?

Nice try, but it is never out of sight. Can you see air? wink.gif

Clue: Within the sentence, try to look for a word that can be formed into two...

the letters 's' or 'i'

here's an interesting one:
QUOTE

the following is a conversation between two men:
1: how many kids do you have
2: 3
1: what are their ages
2: The product of their ages is 36
1: I will need more information to figure out their ages
2: the sum of their ages equals the number of stores across the street
1: that still isn't enough
2: the oldest likes chocolate

figure it out from start to finish
good luck

i have been told it's hard so u can see some clues if u want

the basic one is to simply read each line and figure out it's implications from that line alone

also it requires a little math

if u want more just ask biggrin.gif

good luck all biggrin.gif

Okay, I'm thinking it's 9, 2, and 2. Here's my warped reasoning: wacko.gif

"6, 6, and 1" and "9, 2, and 2" fullfill the conditions that the product of their ages is 36. The sum of each is 13, so obviously, the number of stores would have to be 13. Now, presuming that when the man said "oldest", he meant oldest "single child", not one of a set of twins, it is probable that it is not 6, 6, and 1, leaving us with the possible answer of 9, 2, and 2.

Am I close?
