Definitely not Mark Evans. And that is straight from the mistress herself. On JKRs website she explains that although he was introduced like other characters who became important in later books, he's a big nobody. So sorry.

Back to the topic, maybe the Half-Blood Prince is Albus Dumbledore? It would tie in well with his "campaign" to prove that you don't have to be pureblood to be a great wizard...

Just a thought, but is it possible that there's more to Fawkes than meets the eye? I mean, he had a huge role in CoS, and he's sort of wrapped in mystery and the like... Maybe HE'S the half-blood prince? It probably sounds ridiculous, but anything is possible in HP...

Well, Fawks is a phoenix. . . . .there's no telling how old he is, so yes, he probably does know something! But no, I don't think he's the HBP
