Harry and Ginny _ Questions and Answers _ Refreshing Screen

Posted by: Jerry Jul 19 2004, 11:22 PM

Hey, everyone. I have a quick question:

Is there a reason why I have to constantly keep refreshing the screen? I mean, when I'm going to a topic in a particular forum, I have to refresh that topic about 3 times to get it up to date. Is anybody else having this problem, or is it just my stupid PC? rolleyes.gif

Welcome Jerry!

I can't say I'm having the same problem, so it might not be the site to blame for this one. Which browser are you using?

Has it just started happening - might the site have been running slow for half an hour or so? - or has it been going on since you arrived?

I'm using Internet Explorer 5.0.

I think it's been going on since the start. The problem is probably my PC, but I just want to be sure... comp26.gif

Nope, nothing doing. I guess the problem lies with me comp26.gif Thanx for your help, though. smile.gif

Try this:

In Internet Explorer, go to the Tools menu, then Internet Options. In the box that appears, find the Temporary Internet Files bit (in General) and click on Settings. Select the Automatically or Every Visit to the Page option and click OK then OK.

If this does not work, it could be a fault with your computer (run ScanDisk to check) or your ISP.

You have officially become my computer technician, QuickHare smile.gif

Since then, I don't have any problem.

Thanx.

Any time. PM or Email with any troubles, as goes with anyone on Elenarda.

As for the trouble, somehow it was set not to bother refreshing the page properly. It does this by age of the page in order to save you time and bandwidth. However, sometimes it gets it wrong and you need to give it a good kicking.

Hence my sig line: "To err is human. To completely screw up requires a computer."
