I noticed last night there were a large number of "guest users" on the forums, and the same has happened tonight.

I also note your news item about odd e-mails (I didn't get any BTW).

Probably co-incidence, possibly not.

The hacker managed to get into the admin control panel and send out a mass-email to all board members. Luckily I was online at the time and the wonderful David leapt straight in and stopped them from being sent out. Some still did go out though, and I've heard from two people who were upset by them - because obviously it looks like it's come from me, which it didn't.

We've been upgraded, and we're looking at other ways to heighten security to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Will keep an eye on guest users and their IP locations and see if any of them match.

After her O.W.L.s Hope had managed to persuade her dad to give her a crash course in what he laughingly referred to as “Parseltongue for tourists”. Being in Slytherin, she’d thought it had been the epitome of cool to return to school with such useful snakey phrases as “Can you pass the apple pie, please?” and “Would you be good enough to tell me what time the train to Madrid departs from Platform Two?”
